Is that not back to front Bee? the smaller number of dots taken up by the figure donates it being further away? as in if the figure fills the site dots 1 to 5 he has to be a lot nearer than if just 1 to 2 yes?
You use the appropriate dot when you have the range after using a range finder yes, or just adjust the sight & use the middle dot.
