ARMA will get €10 more as it has a very high CPU Usage !
I have been looking for all the info here 3 weeks ago for the arma2 server !
this shouldn't be the case with ofp !
You should have here all rights and stuff from what I have understood at the time !
Also they have fair use bandwith so unlimited, that means normal usage of the bandwith if you know what I mean !
So not limited to 60 gig a month and that kind of stuff ! Wink

i think trying to find an official game server that will still host OFP will be difficult if not impossible. but i am negative. but usually right. o the burden.

i3D.net Sander Konings:
sumup:

55 euro a month:

linux:
Dualcore Xeon 1,86 or 3Ghz Pentium dualcore (depending on stock)
2GB RAM 160GB HDD
5.000GB bandwidth with a 1000mbit conection
or 10 euro extra per month you have 10.000GB bandwidth and a Quadcore
full acces
No backup

full conversation !

total time: 1:03

Support suite:

i3D.net Sander Konings: Hi, welcome at www.i3d.net, how may I help you?
John Achterberg: Yes I have a question about hosting a certain game
John Achterberg: The game is oeration flashpoint
John Achterberg: It is a older game though but we run a lot of addons
John Achterberg: Is it possible to run this on your server and does this also mean it had to be charged €10 euro a month extra as with arma2 ?
i3D.net Sander Konings: I already saw a ticket comming by with the same questions
i3D.net Sander Konings: We do not have that game yet, we have to look for a way to get it
John Achterberg: well it is cheap now is is pretty old on the min
John Achterberg: You buy your own copies ?
John Achterberg: Or we need to provide ?
John Achterberg: OR we have acces to the server if we rent ?
i3D.net Sander Konings: You have acces via FTP
i3D.net Sander Konings: how large is the game
John Achterberg: Darn good question this with or without the addons ?
John Achterberg: let me look
John Achterberg: they are 2 normal disks
John Achterberg: No dvd's
i3D.net Sander Konings: Alright
John Achterberg: Took a fast look
John Achterberg: 2.17 gb with all the addons game itself around 1.13
i3D.net Sander Konings: Hmm
i3D.net Sander Konings: I have to charge 10 euro extra per month for this game
John Achterberg: because ?
John Achterberg: I assume it is not high in cpu ussage
John Achterberg: liek arma2
John Achterberg: like , sorry for typo
John Achterberg: I believe there is a 10 gb space on the server so that should be enough
i3D.net Sander Konings: No,
i3D.net Sander Konings: A lot of extra things have to be installed
i3D.net Sander Konings: Media player for example
i3D.net Sander Konings: since there is a bug
i3D.net Sander Konings: There is currently a bug which causes the server to run at 32fps, when invoking ‘#monitor’ command you will be able to confirm this. In order to get the server running at the maximum clock cycles (50fps) you can run Windows Media Player in the background.
John Achterberg: Never heard about that one
i3D.net Sander Konings: We rather don't have those things installed on a server machine
John Achterberg: Special version or never been pathced ?
John Achterberg: I understand
i3D.net Sander Konings: 1.96 version
i3D.net Sander Konings: seems to be the latest
John Achterberg: RGR
i3D.net Sander Konings: Whats RGR
i3D.net Sander Konings: Operation Flashpoint 1.96 WGL Server Setup
John Achterberg: Sorry, tomuch gaming and official army time
John Achterberg: Means I understand/okay
i3D.net Sander Konings: Ah roger
i3D.net Sander Konings: Though it was a version or something
i3D.net Sander Konings: since there is WGL behind it as well
John Achterberg: No sorry for the miss communication
John Achterberg: Now you got me
John Achterberg: WGL
John Achterberg: Okay I see
John Achterberg: you have read this link probally
John Achterberg: http://www.apollon-domain.co.uk/?p=9
John Achterberg: So that means € 10 a month extra ?
John Achterberg: Or just for installing it once ?
i3D.net Sander Konings: Well you could also choose to rent a dedicated server instead
i3D.net Sander Konings: then you can setup as much as you like
John Achterberg: Yah but what are the costs for that
John Achterberg: Bet they are way more Razz
i3D.net Sander Konings: depends on the experience you have
i3D.net Sander Konings: linux is lower in price
i3D.net Sander Konings: for 55 euro a month you have a dualcore
i3D.net Sander Konings: that's enough to run an arma and a that other game
i3D.net Sander Konings: or maybe 2
John Achterberg: bandwith ?\
John Achterberg: specs server ?
i3D.net Sander Konings: Dualcore Xeon 1,86 or 3Ghz Pentium dualcore (depending on stock) 2GB RAM 160GB HDD 5.000GB bandwidth
i3D.net Sander Konings: and for 10 euro extra per month you have 10.000GB bandwidth and a Quadcore
John Achterberg: Okay and the latest option would be able to run both games
John Achterberg: Ofp and ARMA2
John Achterberg: This is new for me sorry if I'm a pain
John Achterberg: internet connection?
i3D.net Sander Konings: 100 mbit by deault
i3D.net Sander Konings: default
i3D.net Sander Konings: is plenty enough for gameservers by the way
John Achterberg: Also for 2 games ?
i3D.net Sander Konings: For 10 as well
i3D.net Sander Konings: normall gameserver isn't using that much
John Achterberg: Okay !
i3D.net Sander Konings: I can give you an 1000mbit without any costs if you want that
John Achterberg: That would be nice but I need to talk with the guys first as we are a group and some have there own specities, on in linux other in ofp another is mods another in arma2. would 2 gig mem be enought ?
i3D.net Sander Konings: i'm pretty sure that would be enough for 2 gameservers yes
i3D.net Sander Konings: Arma uses a full CPU core
John Achterberg: So in short it would be Dualcore Xeon 1,86 or 3Ghz Pentium dualcore (depending on stock) 2GB RAM 160GB HDD 5.000GB bandwidth with a 1000mbit conection or 10 euro extra per month you have 10.000GB bandwidth and a Quadcore
i3D.net Sander Konings: and about 500-800mb ram
i3D.net Sander Konings: correct
John Achterberg: Than is should be enough
John Achterberg: 2 games and even a website if that is allowed
John Achterberg: Is that allowed ?
i3D.net Sander Konings: You can do anything you want wit it
i3D.net Sander Konings: As long as it's legal of course
i3D.net Sander Konings: You have to upload the files yourself also by the way
i3D.net Sander Konings: If you have FTP installed i can upload ArmA2 for you if you want
i3D.net Sander Konings: since it's quite big
John Achterberg: OKay I'll remember Razz, got another question tough what is the ping and the stability of the server/hoast? As they have a small server now in hongary on the moment but keeps dropping ping and connection
John Achterberg: We have lots of peeps in canada and in usa and england
i3D.net Sander Konings: I've never seen any issue with our dedicated servers before regarding the network
i3D.net Sander Konings: Our network is optimized for gaming since we're serving very big clients such as EA games and THQ
John Achterberg: Okay
i3D.net Sander Konings: If you notice any issues, you can always create a support ticket
i3D.net Sander Konings: and we will do anything we can to solve it
John Achterberg: That is good !
John Achterberg: Well I should post this on the senior member forum and see what they think.
John Achterberg: In short this is the deal
John Achterberg: sumup:

55 euro a month:

linux:
Dualcore Xeon 1,86 or 3Ghz Pentium dualcore (depending on stock)
2GB RAM 160GB HDD
5.000GB bandwidth with a 1000mbit conection
or 10 euro extra per month you have 10.000GB bandwidth and a Quadcore full acces
John Achterberg: you do backups to of this ?
i3D.net Sander Konings: Correct
i3D.net Sander Konings: No, backups are not included
i3D.net Sander Konings: The complete server is unmanaged
John Achterberg: okay
John Achterberg: Well hope this is enough info for them and they can use it the insfo you have given me !
i3D.net Sander Konings: You can always contact me again through this chat
John Achterberg: I want to tank you for the help and explanation you have given me
John Achterberg: Okay thank you !

Personally I don't this is a bad deal ! Wink

Sounds pretty good, running both ARMA II & OFP games and maybe the website from the same machine. Quite costly though.

BTW Only two donations so far but our balance is just over 200 Euro.

How is LOL ARMA II hosted at the moment?

Let me know we might be able to switch over here !
It is not that costly as you think about it.
Yes all together it is but running 2 different servers and a separate website and ts server, you talking about 4 providers !
Also you can put the addon package onto it and all the stuff you never will get over the 1000mbit l Wink
Only problem is I have not a magician with linux .
Confused
We need to get a stable server and a static ip adress for ofp and arma2 keep switching doesn't add stability !
Peeps leave or can't find it anymore !
